2. Amir Khan
With Amir Khan swinging and missing on his attempt to land a Mayweather fight in May, he naturally shifted his focus to the next best super fight — a date with Manny Pacquiao.
The British boxer recently called out Pacquaio:
“We have a good history together; we both were trained by Freddie Roach, we sparred together hundreds of times, we are friends. But boxing is a business and I want to fight him and beat him.”
Whether it comes to fruition or not is another story.
There is the obvious snag that Khan is a Golden Boy Fighter while Pacquiao is with Top Rank, meaning the “Cold War” could prevent this from happening.
However, with Oscar de la Hoya and Bob Arum recently saying they’d be amenable to a reconciliation, this could act as the first fight post-Cold War.
Khan is a strong fighter and has been seeking to get in with the big boys for a while now. It’d be interesting to see if he could give Pacquiao a run for his money.
