Pittsburgh Penguins at Minnesota Wild
Pittsburgh has won three of their last four games but the offense isn’t exactly running wild with just 11 goals in those four games on 110 shots. The power play has been a big issue for this team, going just 1-for-16 in their last five games overall. The latest winner of the “Sidney Crosby’s winger” sweepstakes is Beau Bennett, as the youngster spent nearly the whole game with Crosby in their last outing. Also, with Paul Martin back, he has joined the top power play unit and supplanted whoever had thoughts about playing there. In all, though, this is not the same offensive juggernaut without Evgeni Malkin.
While a win tonight won’t make them mathematical locks to make the playoffs, a win for Minnesota tonight means a playoff spot is near-guaranteed. I expect a very good game from this team.
Mikael Granlund was out of the lineup on Thursday with an upper-body injury and it’s not certain if he will be back for tonight. This has jumbled the lines a little bit with Erik Haula being moved up to the second line and Matt Moulson getting his way to the top power play unit. Both represent DFS value upticks in a serious way.
Pittsburgh beat Minnesota 5-2 back in December but these teams are not the same as they were back then. I don’t really like either goalie because I see this game as toss-up so I will just look to value plays for 50/50 lineups.
