Colorado Avalanche at St. Louis Blues
Colorado has won five games in a row with four of those coming after regulation. In short, this team is playing a lot of close games lately that could have easily gone the other way. Basically, at the moment, this team is relying on Semyon Varlamov to post a .920 save percentage or better, and that’s not a good way to try and win games consistently. As always, Tyson Barrie seems to be riding a streak that defies all logic. Hop on until it’s cold.
This team has only given up nine goals against in their last six games so expecting anyone to succeed against them offensively is not a good idea. In an interesting twist, and I have no idea if it was just because they were playing the Sabres, St. Louis put their top defensemen Kevin Shattenkirk and Alex Pietrangelo on the second power play unit (and they did so early in the second period at 1-0, so it’s a weird situation). If that continues to be the case, then Carlo Colaiacovo just received a huge boost in daily hockey.
One worry about the Blues is they only have four goals in their last three games and this has been a team susceptible to bad percentages as far as goals goes sometimes. For that reason, I won’t stack them. I do think the Blues get this one though so I’m fine with Ryan Miller as a goalie in any type of DFS league.
