Buffalo Sabres at Dallas Stars
The Buffalo Sabres have seen quite a bit of turmoil the last few days as they traded goaltender Ryan Miller to St. Louis on Friday night and then saw their President quit unexpectedly on Saturday. Credit has to be given as they’ve won their first three games off the break – including at home against San Jose the night they got rid of Ryan Miller – but it’s been a bit of luck; Buffalo has been outshot by 45 shots in their first three games coming back. If that continues against Dallas, they will get the net filled on them.
Dallas beat Carolina coming off the break 4-1 but then lost on Saturday 4-2 to Tampa Bay. One big problem for Big D that has been a common occurrence most of the season is the power play: Dallas’ power play is 26th overall on the year and has gone 0-for-10 in the first two games back. With that said, the Stars have looked really strong overall since coming back – especially in that Tampa game where they dominated possession – which makes me think they’re primed for a huge game tonight.
These two teams met in Buffalo back in October, a 4-3 win for the Stars. The top-end talent of the Stars have no equal over on the Sabres side of the puck so if they big boys get rolling (I mean Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, and Valeri Nichushkin), they could put up a lot of goals tonight.
Dallas is the team I feel most comfortable stacking tonight so I would be in favor of stacking their top line, along with Alex Goligoski, in any GPP for tonight. I would also take Kari Lehtonen in net for any type of DFS game.
