Los Angeles Kings at Anaheim Ducks
The Kings return to California after an unfruitful Eastern trip that saw them go 0-2-1 against the East (though they did beat St. Louis to start it off). This was a team that had struggled to score goals all year, and now after allowing 10 in their last three games, are having trouble keeping it out of their own net. If you can’t score and you can’t keep the other team from scoring, things like four wins in 14 games will happen. The bright side is that Jeff Carter just keeps on giving in DFS games, as he has seven goals and nine points in his last nine games (and taken 42 shots on goal in the meantime).
Anaheim is coming off their first regulation loss at home all year, a 3-2 loss to Winnipeg. Of course, they dominated the game from start to finish and doubled up the Jets in shots, they just couldn’t find the back of the net often enough. Since New Year’s Eve, the Ducks have scored a power play goal in eight of their 11 games and even if you discount their six goal outburst against Vancouver, they still have nine power play goals in their last 10 games. This could be important, as Los Angeles has allowed a power play goal against in three straight games.
This is the warm-up game before their outdoor game at Dodger Stadium on Saturday. There have been reports from the Ducks that perhaps their players were getting a bit distracted with the big game coming up so I assume the same could be said for Los Angeles. Distracted players are unreliable so I’ll probably stay away from the goalies in this game tonight and focus on value plays and power play skaters from the Ducks.
