Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – January 23

Drew Stafford

Chicago Blackhawks at Minnesota Wild

The ‘Hawks are coming off a road loss in Detroit last night, giving Chicago six losses in their last 10 games (4-1-5). The power play connected for the first time in four games, which is always a nice sight to see. Overall, there shouldn’t be much cause for concern here with Chicago but this is a team playing on back-to-back nights on the road and that’s not good for most teams. Chicago isn’t most teams, though, as they’re 2-0 in the second game of back-to-backs on the road this year.

Minnesota has been pretty good in the win/loss column of late, having gone 7-3 in their last 10 games. There is a catch to that, though: Minnesota has been outshot by 15+ in four of their last nine games and the only games where they have outshot their opponent in 2014 have been Buffalo, Colorado and Edmonton. This is a team riding the hot hand of goaltender Darcy Kuemper and he’ll need to be on point tonight.

The Blackhawks have eight regulation losses this year and two of them came to this Minnesota team (though, both of them were when Minnesota was a healthy team). Chicago is the far superior team to the Wild but this game is by no means a gimmie.

If you’re feeling adventurous, Kuemper would make a good GPP play in net tonight. Otherwise, I’ll probably stay away from the higher-priced players in this game.
