Ottawa Senators at Tampa Bay Lightning
The Senators have been on quite a streak lately, having just one regulation loss in their last 10 games and pushing themselves to within a point of the final wild card spot as of today. This was a strong possession team last year and they have been climbing back into contender-status for about two months now. Of course, it helps when you get shutouts from both of your goalies and your starter rebounds after a terrible start to the season. In short, they have just improved as a whole and there aren’t a ton of specific points as to why.
Tampa Bay is coming off a lot of rest time, having not played since Sunday’s 5-3 win over Carolina. The power play has been extremely stellar of late, posting a 40-percent efficiency over their last five games (six goals total). Of course, they’ve allowed five power play goals against over that stretch as well so the net effect is minimal, but that’s not the focus in DFS.
This is only the second meeting this year between the two teams and the first (also in Tampa Bay) was a 3-1 win for the Lightning. That was post-Stamkos as well, so that says something about tonight’s game.
I don’t think tonight is a high-scoring matchup but Tampa Bay seems ripe to win it. The problem is that Ben Bishop’s price has gotten a bit out of control so I’m not sure there are a whole lot of great plays in this game.
