Philadelphia Flyers at Columbus Blue Jackets
Because of their postponed game, the Flyers have to play on back-to-back nights though that may not be a huge concern for them: Philadelphia is 3-1 on the second night of a back-to-back since the start of December (though two of those wins were against the crumbling Canadiens squad). Their biggest concern has to be goaltending as Steve Mason and Ray Emery have combined to be pretty bad for nearly two months now. Goaltending woes aside, this team is still filling the net on a regular basis, so there is still a lot of DFS value on their team (as long as you don’t play on sites that count plus/minus).
Columbus is going streaking, having one seven games in a row now and are 8-1 so far in 2014. This is a moment in time when everything is clicking for the Jackets: goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has allowed just 12 goals in six games since returning from injury; the power play has nine goals in their last nine games, operating at a 31-percent rate; all their important pieces are healthy save for Marian Gaborik and he’s missed about 60-percent of the season so far anyway so they’ve gotten used to life without him. In short, they’ve been fun to watch and I’ll keep riding this train until it runs off the tracks.
As good as Bobrovsky has been, I worry about starting any goalie against the Flyers so I’ll probably hold off tonight. That said, the first two meetings between these two teams resulted in nine total goals each game so I’ll be picking a lot of players from this game for my lineups (more heavily on CBJ than PHI, though).
Note: the two games between these two teams only featured one power play goal, so the obvious choices for your lineups may not be so obvious (i.e. non-power play guys).
