Each fantasy season is full of injuries and players that just don’t meet your expectations. Being able to adjust on the fly and find studs on your league’s waiver wire is critical in a short season. Here are five players owned in less than 30% of Yahoo leagues that can help your team:
Derek Stepan (29%): Move over Brad Richards … Stepan has been the hot center on Broadway recently. Playing the pivot between Rick Nash and Carl Hagelin, Stepan has been racking up the points. He has six points in his last five games, with two coming on the power play.
Adam Henrique (21%): With Andrei Loktionov centering the all-Russian top line between Ilya Kovalchuk and Alexei Ponikarovsky, Henrique is on the second line with eternal contributor, Patrik Elias, and the slumping David Clarkson. He hasn’t been setting the world on fire this season with 10 points in 19 games, but he has three goals in his last five games, and the talent to keep rolling. Buy low on him now.
Clarke MacArthur (19%): He has been a scoring machine, finding chemistry with Toronto’s breakout center, Nazem Kadri. MacArthur has tallied at least one point in 11 of the last 13 games for the Leafs. That kind of consistency isn’t something that will sit on the waiver wire for long.
Colin Wilson (15%): Nashville’s first round pick in 2008, Wilson paces the Predators’ offense with 19 points in 24 games. He only has 26 shots on the year, but seven of them have connected for goals. There’s not a whole lot of offense in the Music City, but Wilson is the Predator to own. If he continues to assert himself and starts shooting more, his numbers could climb even higher.
Beau Bennett (2%): The Matt Cooke experiment alongside Evgeni Malkin and James Neal has (thankfully) come to an end. Hidden in the depths of your waiver wire you will find Beau Bennett. He is slated to audition for the part, and his chances are significantly better. The former first round pick now has six points in his last six games playing among the top six, including work on the second power play unit.
