As has become custom around these QB2 streaming parts, we start off with a quick Week 14 recap:
*Johnny Manziel didn’t start, so we’ll have to take an incomplete on that recommendation.
*Teddy Bridgewater – 19.06 Fantasy Points/QB15 (1.24 fantasy points away from the QB1 tier)
*Shaun Hill – 16.42 Fantasy Points/QB17
Even though Bridgewater and Hill wound up as mid-range QB2s, they still put up respectable fantasy numbers. Of course, we strive for better results. Hopefully Johnny’s first NFL start this week brings him into the streaming conversation, at worst.
With last week’s recap over and done with, let us move onto this week’s QB2 streaming recommendations…
Week 15 QB2 Circle of Trust
Ben Roethlisberger @ ATL
Remember that time Ben Roethlisberger threw 12 passing touchdowns in two games? That was fun, wasn’t it? Then he went and threw a combined two touchdowns in what were supposed to be plus matchups versus the Jets and Tennessee, only to follow those up with two back-to-back games of 26+ fantasy points. All very Andy Dalton-esque.
Now Big Ben has a favorable matchup against an Atlanta Falcons defense that has given up plenty of fantasy points to three and a half good quarterbacks. Out of their last six starts, four quarterbacks have scored 20 or more fantasy points versus the Falcons. Those four quarterbacks were Matthew Stafford, Josh McCown, Cam Newton, and Aaron Rodgers.
Each of those four signal callers passed for multiple touchdowns, and Cam Newton was the only one not to reach the 300+ passing yard plateau, but he did add 30 yards on ground. The only two quarterbacks not to have great fantasy games versus Atlanta the past six weeks were Brian Hoyer and Drew Stanton. But combined, they both passed for 616 yards and one touchdown.
Atlanta can be passed on, and Roethlisberger has the potential to flirt with high-end QB1 numbers this week.
Eli Manning vs. WAS
According to Yahoo’s Fantasy Points Against stats, no team is allowing more points per game to opposing quarterbacks than Washington, who are allowing an average of 20.96 fantasy points/game to opposing quarterbacks on the season.
The numbers might be skewed a bit, with three separate 30+ fantasy points performances on the year, but they haven’t really been able to stop anyone recently either. Since Week 9, quarterbacks are averaging 20.38 fantasy points against Washington, and they have given up a total of 11 passing touchdowns to two interceptions during that span.
Back in Week 4, Eli went off for 300 passing yards and four passing touchdowns against Washington. He also tacked on a rushing touchdown that week. Washington’s defense hasn’t gotten any better since then, giving Eli an opportunity at a repeat performance.
Mark Sanchez vs. DAL
There was a lot of fuss surrounding Mark Sanchez and his matchup vs. Seattle in Week 14. While he didn’t light up the stat sheet, Sanchez did become the only quarterback to throw multiple touchdowns against the Seahawks since Derek Carr in Week 9, and was the first fantasy signal caller to score double-digit points against them since Eli Manning in Week 10.
Those were both bright spots for Sanchez in Week 14. However, he was only able to throw for 96 yards, which didn’t help him pad the stat sheets. Week 15 vs. Dallas gives him a chance to rebound and provide fantasy owners with a reprieve.
The Cowboys have allowed three straight fantasy signal callers (including Sanchez in Week 13) to score 21 or more fantasy points against them. Eli Manning (Week 12) and Jay Cutler (Week 14) each put up 300+ passing yards on the Cowboys, and the trio of Eli, Sanchez, and Cutler have combined to throw for six touchdowns and two interceptions the past three games versus Dallas.
Trust The Sanchize in Week 15 to bounce back and put up respectable fantasy numbers once again.
