Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – March 30

Rick Nash

Chicago Blackhawks at Pittsburgh Penguins

The Blackhawks have lost three out of their last four games and have been shutout in two of them. The team has scored as many power play goals as they’ve allowed. Patrick Sharp only has two goals in the team’s last 13 games. There are a few warning signs here.

With that said, the ‘Hawks are still dominating most games and are just riding the wrong side of the shooting percentages right now. The lines were shuffled a bit in the middle of the last game with Marian Hossa moved to the second line with Sharp and Andrew Shaw moved to the top line with Kris Versteeg and Jonathan Toews.

Pittsburgh is also on their own slide of late, losing three of their last four and scoring just five goals in those games. At the moment, this team reminds me of the Penguins from just after the lockout: One line, no defense, suspect goaltending at times. The team has only gone 1-for-17 on the power play in those four games and have given up a power play goal against in three straight games.

The way both teams are playing right now, it’s pretty tough to put a lot of DFS salary on any of the high-priced players.

When these two teams met in Chicago four weeks ago, the ‘Hawks won 5-1 and that was with Evgeni Malkin in the lineup. It’s possible that Chicago comes in and blows the doors off the new Igloo. Until I see Chicago break out of the slump, I can’t put a stack on them. I would rather again just pick some skaters for 50/50s and avoid the goalies.
