Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – March 17

Tyler Johnson

Winnipeg Jets at St. Louis Blues

The Jets played last night at home and filled the net against the Dallas Stars with a 7-2 win. The bigger news out of that game was that after scoring two goals and adding an assist, Dustin Byfuglien left the game with a lower-body injury and he did not return. After the game, Coach Paul Maurice said that he expected Byfuglien to be in the lineup tonight but nothing has been confirmed yet. Also, last night’s winning goalie Al Montoya is expected to get the start in net tonight for the team. I’m never a fan of a goalie playing on back to back nights, especially with the travel involved.

St. Louis hasn’t lost in regulation at home in nearly two months (January 18 vs Anaheim) and the team is 7-0-1 overall in the month of March. The Blues are now the top team in the NHL on the basis of points accumulated.

St. Louis’ last game saw Jaden Schwartz on the top line with Alex Steen and David Backes. Behind them, a newly-formed second line of Vladimir Sobotka, T.J. Oshie, and Vladimir Tarasenko was put together (Tarasenko has since been injured and will be out until the playoffs). There are values on both of these lines, especially with Schwartz who seems to be fixed on the top power play unit as well.

These teams have played each other four times already this year and every game has been decided by one goal. They haven’t played each other since the Olympics, however, and both teams have made changes since, specifically in net. With Winnipeg traveling after a big win last night and St. Louis playing so well, I think this should be a fairly easy game for the Blues. I might avoid stacking them outright, but picking players off their power play units and perhaps even Ryan Miller in net seem prudent for cash games.
