Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – January 16

Boston Bruins at Dallas Stars

Boston is on a little slide of late as they’ve lost three of their last four games and five of their last eight. Their most recent loss, a 4-3 game at home to Toronto that they probably should have won, was a microcosm for their slide: despite putting up very solid 5-on-5 numbers, the team’s penalty kill has been awful for a few weeks now. When your team is allowing, on average, over a goal against per game while short-handed, it’s tough to consistently win.

Dallas laid the wood to Edmonton in their most recent game, a 5-2 win at home in Dallas. That ended a six-game losing streak that the Stars had begun 2014 with and they scored their first power play goal in four games. Also, Tyler Seguin was able to snap his five-game pointless streak and he would probably like to show his former team a thing or two tonight.

It’s tough to see how this game shakes out because Boston is a pretty good team on a downturn while Dallas is a good team that has one win (and it was against Edmonton) in their last seven games. I don’t doubt that there is motivation for Seguin to do a little extra tonight, but the same motivation is there for Loui Eriksson too. I would assume the Benn line gets the Chara matchup, so I’ll look to their second line and third lines to round out some rosters.
