Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – January 16

Los Angeles Kings at St. Louis Blues

Los Angeles has traded wins and losses for several games now, the mark of a team that can’t find any scoring consistency. In their last six games, the Kings are just 2-for-28 on the power play and that includes a game on Monday against Vancouver where they essentially had a power play for the first ten minutes of the game and failed to score. Miraculously, they managed to win that game 1-0.

St. Louis won their last game out 2-1 over Phoenix, a game that saw them put up only 18 shots on goal (a season low) and tied a monthly-low for goals scored in a home game. Of course, they only gave up 21 shots in return so that helps things along a lot. Once in a while, a team underperforms and still wins, which is exactly what St. Louis did. Move on, next game.

The last time these two teams met was less than two weeks ago and resulted in a 5-0 win for St. Louis. Even though Alex Steen is skating for St. Louis, he won’t be making his return tonight (and wasn’t in the lineup for that game either). Also, the expectation is that Jon Quick will be in net for Los Angeles and it was Martin Jones’s last game the last time they were in St. Louis.

I expect St. Louis to win but I’m unsure of the score. I would probably stay away from the higher-priced players, especially on defense.
