Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – January 16

Nashville Predators at Philadelphia Flyers

Though Devan Dubnyk was acquired yesterday by the Predators, the expectation is that he won’t start tonight. As a team, the Predators are coming off a 4-2 win at home to Calgary. This has been the case for most of the season now, but the Predators do well when they score on the power play and don’t do well when they don’t: in their last four wins, the Preds have gone 4-for-15 (26.7-percent) and in their last six losses, their power play is 1-for-12 (8.3-percent). It’s not a team that scores often, so they need their power play to come through, with both drawn penalties and conversions, if they want a chance at winning.

Philadelphia is coming off a 4-3 win in Buffalo which required quite a few late goals to take it in regulation. It was the fifth game out of their last six that the Flyers had converted for at least one power play goal and it made 13 of their last 15 games that the Flyers have scored at least three goals. For the most part, the Flyers have been daily fantasy gold for the last month even if their goaltenders haven’t.

The last time these two teams met was a 3-2 shootout win for the Flyers in Nashville at the end of November. That game was part of a five-game losing streak that the Predators haven’t recovered from since, so I fully expect this to go the Flyers’ way. I don’t have a lot of confidence in Philadelphia’s goaltending of late so I’m not sure I’d use them, but the skaters should be able to rack the points tonight.
