Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – February 8

New Jersey Devils at Washington Capitals

The Devils won last night in overtime to beat Edmonton 2-1 but it exemplifies what has been going for this team for several games now: they can’t score. The Devils have only scored eight goals in their last five games but unlike some teams, the Devils haven’t cracked 30 shots in six straight games so the chances really haven’t been there for them. Cory Schneider is already confirmed to start in goal and goalies playing back to back nights is typically tough sledding. It’s even tougher when you’re the oldest team in the NHL.

If there was ever a game that the Capitals should clean up in, it’s this one. The problem is that the Devils tend to play a bit of keep-away when they are playing in these types of situations so Washington will have to convert on whatever chances are given.

It should be noted that the Caps are still without Mike Green (which means that John Carlson is running the power play) and that Martin Erat seems solidified as Alex Ovechkin’s other winger and he’s now getting power play time with the top unit as well.

This is a schedule loss for the Devils which means the Caps should roll in this one. It’s living dangerously considering Cory Schneider is starting in the other net, but I would stack the Caps in GPPs and figure out a way to get Ovechkin on some teams. The last time Washington was in New Jersey, there were nine goals scored between the two teams, FYI.
