Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – February 8

Montreal Canadiens at Carolina Hurricanes

The Habs have a chance to go to the Olympic break with a three-game winning streak under their belt and they have Carey Price to thank for that; Price has allowed six goals against in his last five games and that includes two shutouts (one to this very Carolina team a week and a half ago). The Habs are still getting outplayed most games so it’s not some sort of team revival, it’s just them doing what they’ve always done and that’s relied on great goaltending and a proficient power play. That last part is important as the Habs are three for their last 13 after scoring just four on their previous 33.

The Hurricanes are coming off a win last night at home to Florida, a game where they reached five goals scored for the third time in their last seven games. A huge reason for the team’s turn-around the last month or so has been the play of goalie Anton Khudobin and it’ll be a wonder if they give him the start today, given the situation. Should he go, that’s a back to back for this team. If not, they would be relying on a back-up goalie that hasn’t played since December.

Before the shutout in Montreal, the Hurricanes beat the Habs 5-4 in Carolina in overtime at the end of December. I think this game is a close game given the Hurricanes’ situation but with the way Price is playing, it’s tough to bet against the Habs right now.

With Carolina’s hot streak, I wonder how many players will take Price in a daily game today so he might be alright in a GPP.
