Toronto Maple Leafs at Tampa Bay Lightning

Toronto can be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs tonight with a regulation loss and a point from Columbus, so I would expect the best game of the year from Toronto. With that said, I expected a do-or-die performance from Toronto on Saturday against a depleted Winnipeg team and the Leafs played the game as if it were a die-and-die game. Toronto has beaten Tampa twice this year but that was pre-Stamkos injury return.

Tampa Bay has gone just 3-3-2 in their last eight games and has averaged just two goals for per game over their last four. One big problem for this team right now – I do think the goals will come, it’s just a little cold streak – is the goaltending: Ben Bishop has a .903 save percentage in the 18 games he’s played since the Olympic break. A goalie playing like a sieve against a team with as much firepower as the Toronto Maple Leafs should be avoided at all costs.

It was announced yesterday that Joffrey Lupul will miss the rest of the regular season for the Leafs and that really reduces them to a one-line team. If they get shut down, the Lightning could roll tonight. I will stack some Lightning players but will probably avoid Bishop. He might get the win, but he could also allow three goals on 21 shots and that’s not helping anyone.
