According to Fox’s Jay Glazer, the Minnesota Vikings are expected to release head coach Leslie Frazier on Monday after the team won just four of their 15 games coming into Sunday’s finale.
Frazier, who took over for head coach Brad Childress in 2010, has finished the season with more than six wins just once since. Frazier led the Vikes to the playoffs last season on the back of Adrian Peterson’s historic season and a tough defense. He finished fourth in Coach of the Year voting. This season, the Vikings are dead last in a disappointing NFC North and rank 32nd in passing defense and 22nd in passing offense.
Frazier has a 20-32-1 head coaching record with the Vikes heading into Sunday’s season finale. Prior to becoming a head coach, he worked as the defensive coordinator under Brad Childress and previous worked as an assistant with the Colts, Bengals, and Eagles. Frazier won a Superbowl ring as an assistant coach with the Colts in 2007 and also won a ring as a player for the Chicago Bears in Superbowl XX.
Between 1992 and 2000, the Vikings were perennial playoff contenders, making it to the postseason in eight of nine seasons. Since 2000, the Vikings have made the playoffs just four times, losing two Wild Card games, one division game, and a conference championship game in 2009 when Brett Favre headed up the offense.
