The weekend is here and every team is in action. Porcello was the wrong play last night as the Rays stuck it to him. Kansas City showed some strong offense against the Angels. We have some big pitchers on the mound tonight that could put up some major points.
Low-Scoring Play
Detroit Tigers @ Cleveland Indians – Verlander vs Kluber should be the matchup of the day. Verlander has looked strong this early season. Kluber was a force in the Indians’ run last year and is always a threat to throw a shut up. Verlander will be the play in this game as the current Indians players only have batted .258 off of him. Kluber has had success against the Tigers as well, however, not against Cabrera. Cabrera is batting .447 with 5 homeruns.
Targets: Verlander, Cabrera, Martinez
High-Scoring Play
Philadelphia Phillies @ Washington Nationals – Hellickson takes the mound for Philadelphia with a 0.90 ERA. However in his two starts he has 10 innings pitched and 3 strikeouts. He has to rely on his fielders to make plays and get him out of the innings. The Nationals are not a team that I would want hitting the ball all over the park as you try to make plays. They have speed to take a base if they want and will make Hellickson work for his outs.
Targets: Werth, Harper, Murphy
Undervalued Plays
Mitch Moreland – BOS – 1B – A first baseman that is batting .324 on the year for $3300 is a steal. With high price pitchers like Verlander, Sale and Arrieta, this is a position where you can save some money. Moreland is still in search for his first homerun this year. He has been swinging the stick well; it could come soon.
Chase Headley – NYY – 3B – Headley is looking good this year batting .375 with two home runs. The Yankees are looking strong and Headley is one of the main reasons why.
