Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 4/9/17

We have reached the end of the first full week of baseball, and we have our first full Sunday slate of action. Some highlights from Saturday include a 17-run outburst by the Phillies – 12 in the first inning – losses by both Kershaw and Bumgarner, and another impressive performance by the Rays. Let’s get right back at it for Sunday.

Low Scoring Plays

Miami Marlins @ New York Mets – With Edinson Volquez and Noah Syndergaard on the mound, the two number one pitchers are matched up in this one.  Syndergaard fanned 7 in his first outing and let up 0 runs.  The Marlins have not had much success off of him, hitting .266 throughout their careers, and Stanton is 0-8 against Thor with one walk.  If Stanton does connect with one of Syndergaard’s fastballs, it will pass Halley’s Comet.  Otherwise, I like Syndergaard in a close matchup.

Targets: Syndergaard, Reyes, Duda

Chicago Cubs @ Milwaukee Brewers – Arrieta takes the bump for the Cubs, and he motored through the Cardinals in his first start.  If he looked that strong against the Cardinals lineup he should have an easy time against the Brewers.  This game could be one of the lopsided games of the day if the Cubs also bring their bats.  Arrieta should dominate.

Targets: Arrieta, Shwarber, Bryant

High Scoring Plays

Boston Red Sox @ Detroit Tigers – Boston rested a lot of their starters on Saturday.  Look for them to come out swinging on Sunday.  Rick Porcello had a strong outing to start the season to defend his Cy Young title from last year.  However, I am still not convinced he is an elite pitcher.  I don’t know if it’s because he isn’t a household name yet, but the Tigers could get to him in this game.  I like the Red Sox to win, but Detroit can make it interesting in a high-scoring game.

Targets: Ramirez, Pedroia, Bradley Jr.

Toronto Blue Jays @ Tampa Bay Rays – The Rays have beyond impressed me so far this season.  I thought they were going to be at the bottom of the AL East.  Granted, there is a lot of ball left to play, but their lineup has been producing.  The Blue Jays have the ability to score at will, so this game should be a slugfest.  Rays are hot, so let’s see if they can continue it.

Targets: Bautista, Tulowitzki, Longoria
