GPP thoughts for 12/4 DraftKings Slate:
Tonight’s slate is seven games with 4 of the 7 games featuring a team that is playing on consecutive nights. Targeting the teams playing opponents on back-to-back nights is always a viable strategy. However I wouldn’t write off the teams playing back-to-backs especially in GPPs, but I would sprinkle those players in rather than stacking them.
Stacks for 12/4 DraftKings Slates:
Philadelphia – Philadelphia has been terrible this year, however they have heated up a little bit in their last three games after a line shake up and the call up of Shayne Gostisbehere. In their last three games Philadelphia is 3-0 while scoring 10 goals in that span. Look for the Flyers to continue the streak against New Jersey who is playing on consecutive nights. The only cause for concern here is that the Flyers will face a fresh Cory Schneider who did not play last night. Still, I think Philadelphia’s top two lines are in play here with a preference to a stack of Read, Couturier, Simmonds, and Gostisbehere. At $15,500 this stack gives you a lot of flexibility to spend up elsewhere.
Buffalo – An improving Buffalo gets Arizona playing on a backside of a back-to-back. Arizona is giving up 3.0 goals per game this season and while Buffalo is only scoring at a 2.3 goals per game average I want exposure to Buffalo. Mike Smith will start for Arizona again tonight after getting pulled last night after giving up three goals to Detroit. While I like Jack Eichel as a play here the stack I want to play is the first line of Kane, O’Reilly, Reinhart and Ristolainen. At $18,200 this will leave you an average of $6,360 for your remaining players.
Edmonton – Edmonton gets Dallas who will be playing their third game in four nights. While Taylor Hall has cooled down of late only registering 1 point in his last six games, I expect him to get going against a tired Dallas team. With Edmonton’s first line of Hall, Draisaitl, and Eberle costing $16,300 combined I want exposure here. Over the last few game Dallas has repeatedly turned the puck over deep in their own zone with bad passing that has led to easy goals for their opponents and they repeated this last night against Vancouver. If Edmonton’s first line can get a cheap goal off a Dallas turnover plus one on their own this stack will be in good shape.
Boston – I have no problem stacking the chalk play of Boston against Calgary but be prepared for high ownership.
Cheap defenseman to use to fill out your stacks:
Shayne Gostisbehere ($3,400) Philadelphia – Will be highly owned but gets power play time and and has 6 points in his last 9 games.
Colin Miller ($3,200) Boston – Gets power play time and would be a nice pivot from Gostisbehere.
Steven Kampfer ($2,500) Florida – Played on the power play last night and you could do worse at minimum price.
