Sports have always been a big part of my life. I played football for a long time before I started racing and have been a Carolina Panthers fan since they joined the league. I’ve been playing fantasy football for a while and started getting into DFS this year. I’m in a few leagues, but my main one is a deep 16-team league some family and staff at Richard Childress Racing. Now that you know about me, let’s get to the players! Here are my top waiver wire adds through the first couple weeks of the season.
Devonta Freeman (47% of Yahoo! leagues)
Tevin Coleman has looked pretty good through until he was carted off vs. the Giants. It’s unclear how much time he’ll miss, but I like Devonta with an increased workload, at least in the short-term.
David Johnson (34%)
With Andre Ellington out, David Johnson is the Cardinal RB to own. CJ2K out-touched him, but only had a few more yards. He’s electric and should be more involved with the offense the more flash he shows. Plus, he returns kicks so he gets a few extra chances per game to take one to the house, like he did to open the game vs. Chicago on Sunday.
Dion Lewis (33%)
Lewis has looked great through two weeks, finding the end zone a couple times and gaining over 250 yards from scrimmage. But remember, he is a New England running back, so proceed with caution!
Karlos Williams (21%)
LeSean McCoy struggled in Week 1, but bounced back nicely in Week 2. However, Wiliams still grabbed a TD. He’s a nice change-of-pace RB now, but should anything happen to Shady, he’ll be in line for 15+ touches every week.
Derek Carr (14%)
I just picked him up in my 16-team league and feel good about the Raiders offense after hanging 37 on the Ravens in Week 2. Lots of teams are going to need a QB after Jay Cutler and Tony Romo got hurt and Carr is a nice option that should give you solid production the rest of the year.
Tyrod Taylor (14%)
It’s scary to trust a QB from Buffalo not named Kelly, but he’s been good fantasy-wise against two top AFC teams. He has good playmakers around him in Watkins, McCoy and Harvin, so why not take a chance and see if he can keep the good run going.
Crockett Gilmore (5%)
He looked really good last week against Oakland and seems to be a growing favorite of Joe Flacco. I’m starting him this week in my 16-team league with my other TE (Delanie Walker) listed as questionable.
Jordan Norwood (0%)
If you’re in a really deep league, give him a look. 10 targets through two games as Peyton’s No. 3 WR is encouraging, but he doesn’t have the results quite yet.
