9. A look at the NFC playoff picture
With the Seahawks, Eagles and Lions all winning on Thanksgiving, we have a better idea of the NFC playoff picture with a month remaining in the regular season.
Arizona, Philadelphia, Green Bay and Atlanta are all currently leading their respective divisions, so they sit at Nos. 1-4 in the conference seeding. Seattle and Detroit are currently fifth and sixth, respectively, in the two Wild Card spots.
In addition to the six teams penciled into playoff spots, Dallas (8-4), San Francisco (7-5) and New Orleans (4-7) are the three teams still in the hunt. The Cowboys need to first conquer Philadelphia when the teams meet again in two weeks. The 49ers need to beat Seattle in the re-match, but with Arizona and Seattle both ahead of them in the standings, the postseason may be out of reach for the team in the Bay Area this year.
As for the Saints, they can only make the playoffs by overtaking Atlanta in the NFC South standings. Atlanta has the head-to-head edge over New Orleans with a second meeting ahead in Week 16. Oh what a race it’ll be in the all-too-pathetic NFC South.
