Normally a weapon out of the Giants’ bullpen, Petit’s most recent start against Colorado was in place of Tim Lincecum, who has struggled of late. After Thursday night’s game, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said it would be difficult to remove Petit from the rotation.
Petit owns a a 4-3 mark with 3.44 ERA on the season. In contrast, Lineceum in 10-9 with a 4.64 ERA and a 7.94 ERA in the month of August.
