The St. Louis Rams suffered devastating news when Sam Bradford was diagnosed with a torn ACL and that he’ll miss the entirety of the 2014 NFL season.
The 26-year-old former No. 1 overall pick was entering a contract year, one that likely would determine his future in St. Louis. The team passed up on quarterbacks like Johnny Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater with two picks in the first round of May’s draft, and now is relying on veteran journeyman Shaun Hill to take over what could be a potent offense and one of the league’s ascending defenses.
If the Rams truly believe they could contend this season, they may not trust Hill to be “the guy.” However, reports indicate the Rams could gauge the trade and free-agent markets to see what’s available.
