LeBron signs a 2-year deal, can opt out after 1

For anybody questioning whether James’ opt-out clause after the 2014-15 season means he’s going to be a free agent again next summer, rest easy. He isn’t going anywhere.

A source told USA TODAY Sports that the opt-out clause in James’ contract is simply to allow James to increase the value of his deal if and when the NBA strikes a TV deal that’ll increase the value of max contracts.

James is the best basketball player in the world and deserves to be paid like it. He promised to finish his career with the Cavaliers, so this is strictly a business move to sign a two-year deal.
