Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – May 5

Chicago Blackhawks at Minnesota Wild

For those that don’t remember, these two faced each other in the first round last year. The Wild were pretty much dominated the entire series, and were outplayed that game, but managed to steal a game. The Wild this year, without much change to their lineup, probably have a good enough team to steal a game at home from Chicago. It’s a matter of which game they steal.

It’s always a wild guess as to how teams react to games but Minnesota’s foray to Chicago should be a little bit demoralizing. The Wild dominated a good chunk of Game 1 yet failed to come away with a win. In Game 2, Chicago clamped things down defensively and only allowed 19 shots on goal for Minnesota.

For DFS purposes, the Koivu line has been able to do fairly well for the most part playing against the second and third lines from Chicago. They get burned at times but they are generating offense and have been doing so consistently through the first two games. If I were to grab any players from Minnesota, it would be off that line.

There’s really two ways to look at the two games in Minnesota. Either Chicago keeps the status quo or the Wild end up stealing one. In that sense, there are two ways to go about it in DFS GPPs, either stack the Blackhawks – preferably the top line – or stack the second line from Minnesota and Ilya Byrzgalov to go along with them. Either are acceptable for tonight, though personally I’ll keep riding the Blackhawks until they prove me wrong.
