Los Angeles Kings at Anaheim Ducks
If Game 1 was any indicator of this series, it’s going to be a tight-checking and low scoring affair through most of the games.
Drew Doughty did a reasonably good job of covering the Ryan Getzlaf line in Game 1 even if he was on the ice for the first goal against in the game. Getzlaf was on the ice for just 14 shot attempts for at 5v5 and 14 against for an even rating; Doughty was a 31-17 over the course of the game. If Doughty can keep the Ducks top line to at least an even possession rating over the course of the series, the Kings stand a good chance of success. I would look for Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau to try to get away from that match-up as often as possible tonight.
Francois Beauchemin had a rough game in Game 1 and the worrisome part is that most of his game was spent away from the top line of Los Angeles. In that sense, the depth plays from the Kings might be the best option for DFS tonight in this game while avoiding the top line, who may have outscored what they should have performed.
I’m not stacking either side in this game for GPP purposes. I don’t think there are enough goals to really support that idea tonight. I would shy away from the goalies, too, because it is a real coin flip. Regardless of the Corsi percentages, I think Anaheim has enough skill to make up the difference in a 7-game series.
