Seattle Mariners (Iwakuma) at Houston Astros (Keuchel)
I suppose there aren’t many better 1st Starts Of The Season than going to visit Houston. All the same, I still don’t like taking pitchers making their first appearance. Mike Minor came back last night and while he pitched well, he was not dominant. It can take time for a pitcher to settle in. Also, the Astros facing Dallas Keuchel is a bit worrisome considering how well Keuchel has pitched of late.
Keuchel has pitched well recently and gets a Mariners team that has struggled at times hitting lefty pitching so far this season. For cheap salaries, he and Chen are a couple of my favourite pitchers today. Even though he’s pitching his first game back, I’m not excited about any Astros hitters.
Dallas Keuchel (SP) – $12,003
Chicago White Sox (Carroll) at Cleveland Indians (Masterson)
Scott Carroll has had one start this year and it was against the Rays, so I’m not sure how much can actually be read into that. There aren’t many hitters I like against Masterson, either.
Alejandro de Aza (OF) – $5102
Masterson typically does well against right-handed bats and other than de Aza and The Big Donkey, there isn’t much to fear from the left side of the plate for Masterson owners. He makes a good secondary pitching option today. There are decent, cheap options for the Indians hitters today, too. Be warned, lineups won’t be released for this game before it locks. At least one of these options may not even play.
Lonnie Chisenhall (3B) – $4993
Yan Gomes (C) – $4593
