Minnesota Wild at Chicago Blackhawks
The Wild managed to escape their first round series with a Game 7 overtime win, but it came at a price. Goaltender Darcy Kuemper collided with Matt Duchene behind his net during the second period and appeared to hit his head off of teammate Ryan Suter. Kuemper would leave the game in the third period after giving up two more goals. What’s interesting is he missed the final couple of weeks of the regular season with a concussion. That brings Ilya Bryzgalov to the forefront for DFSers. He’s actually the cheapest goaltender on the board, cheaper than other teams’ back-ups. For GPPs, Bryzgalov is a must-start. For 50/50s, though, I would just avoid.
Chicago reeled off four straight wins against St. Louis and the Blues managed just six goals over the last four games. Some of it was the play of the team, some of it was excellent goaltending from Corey Crawford. If Crawford plays like he has shown at times in the past, the Wild will be very hard-pressed to scrape up many goals this series.
If I was to participate in a GPP (I’m not), I would definitely go with Bryzgalov in net. Otherwise, I think the Blackhawks have enough rest behind them to really roll in Game 1. I would start with the Patrick Kane’s line if I were to stack the ‘Hawks tonight.
