San Jose Sharks at Los Angeles Kings
In what seemed like a very unlikely outcome as little as a week ago, the Sharks are on the brink of sweeping the Kings and can do so with a win tonight.
The difference so far this series has been the speed of the Sharks, but also the play of their depth players. Having Joe Pavleski on the third line provides the Sharks with depth that the Kings simply cannot match.
The Sharks power play seems to be pretty set now and that provides a lot of value for the guys on the top unit. One guy they seem to be focusing on for shots from the slot is Brent Burns. He’s played well at even strength but he can really make hay on the top power play unit, a position he didn’t get to enjoy often in the regular season.
The Kings have to do a much better job defensively if they hope to start winning games. Los Angeles has given up 113 shots on goal so far this series, averaging just under 38 shots per game against after allowing 26.2 shots on goal per game in the regular season.
This is probably another close game so I will just look at either top power play unit and will be staying away from the goaltenders.
