Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Angels
James Paxton will be making his first start of the season against and the rookie has the chance to shut out any opponent on any night: He has a fastball that sits at 95 and was able to generate a lot of swings and misses with his change-up and cutter last year (the cutter being elite when he can get it out of the zone). DFSers that might want to go a little off the board for a second pitcher could do well with Paxton today (and at times this year). I would shy away from most of the hitters, though.
James Paxton (SP) – $12,726
Justin Smoak (1B) – $5271
Angels starter Hector Santiago doesn’t have an extensive history against any of the Mariners hitters, but as a whole, Mariners hitters are 3-for-23 in their careers against Santiago (and Smoak has two of those three hits). Another good pitcher to go for tonight would be Santiago, though with this game such a coin toss, who knows who gets the win.
Hector Santiago (SP) – $12,600
Howie Kendrick (2B) – $5758
