Columbus Blue Jackets at Carolina Hurricanes
Columbus is another team fighting for their playoff lives and has just two wins in their last six games. It’s really a tale of two teams in those games as well; in their two wins, the team has averaged 3.5 goals for/game, in their four losses, the team is averaging 0.75 goals for/game. They are also just treading water in the possession game over their last four contests, pretty much breaking even against teams like the depleted Pittsburgh and Detroit squads and the Islanders who have given up on this season. In other words, it hasn’t been very pretty of late for the Jackets.
Carolina has alternated wins and losses for their last six games but they have some guys on pretty good streaks: Jeff Skinner (2 G, 1 A, 15 SOG last 3 games), Alex Semin (3 G, 11 SOG last 4 games), Jordan Staal (1 G, 2 A last 3 games) have all chipped in on the offense of late. Throw in cheap options that are picking up residual points from their outburst like Nathan Gerbe and Jiri Tlusty, and there is a lot to like for DFS on this team. They guys that are on streaks are getting a little expensive, though.
Except for the last game against Carolina, Columbus had generally had trouble generating offense (not goals) against this team so far this year (they had averaged under 25 shots on goal per game against the Hurricanes before their last game, which was coincidentally a loss). With Columbus playing last night, I like a small stack of some Carolina players for GPPs. I would also not be opposed to using Anton Khudobin in net for any type of game either.
