Colorado Avalanche at Nashville Predators
The Avalanche have been on a bit of a slide lately, going 1-3-1 in their last five games, allowing 20 goals against along the way. Part of the problem has been the penalty kill that has given up a goal against in three straight games now. The power play has also been sputtering but one note from their top PP unit is that Andre Benoit has become a fixture with the Landeskog/MacKinnon/Stastny trio. This team should also be very well rested for tonight’s game as they have not played since Friday. They should be turning to Semyon Varlamov tonight after using three different goalies in net in their last three games.
Nashville has won back to back games against Chicago and Calgary, but the team is still just 5-7-0 in the month of March. The team has been out-possessed in four of their last six games and have gotten their faces bashed in their last two (both wins, go figure). This team is wildly inconsistent when it comes to goal scoring (at least for this month): Nashville has scored 19 goals in their five March wins and just five goals in their six March losses.
These are two teams that are pretty tough to peg right now. Nashville is horribly inconsistent while Colorado has not looked very good at times this month. There has been 19 goals scored in the last two contests between these two teams this year, though, so it might not be a bad idea to throw some darts for 50/50 games. I am not taking either goalie or stacking either side, though.
