Carolina Hurricanes at Winnipeg Jets
Carolina played – and lost – in Chicago last night and head to Winnipeg tonight to face a Jets team fighting for their playoff lives. The Hurricanes are just 2-6 since January 1st in the second game of back-to-backs and the two wins came against Nashville and Buffalo, two of the five lowest-scoring teams in the NHL. This team has only scored seven goals in their last four games and considering they’re heading for another game on the road tonight, I don’t see them filling the net by any stretch.
Winnipeg has won two out of their last three games (both their wins at home, by the way) and have scored 13 goals in those three games. The biggest note from this team is that Ondrej Pavelec was skating with the team and perhaps could return sometime soon. It looks as though it will still be Al Montoya in net for this team and that’s not such a bad thing; Montoya has managed a .921 save percentage and a 2.26 GAA on the season. He’s also allowed just 17 goals in his last eight appearances (one of them was in relief of Pavelec).
It won’t take much analysis to see that this game is perfect for stacking the Jets. Without Mark Scheifele, I’m a bit worried to stack anyone that’s not on the top line. In other words, I would look for the Andrew Ladd line tonight in GPPs.
