Ottawa Senators at Dallas Stars
Ottawa has been absolutely dreadful for the last two weeks, losing five straight games and allowing 27 goals against in the meantime (5.4 goals against/game). Part of the problem is the insanely undisciplined play that the team has been putting on display in most games, as they have given up at least six power plays against in four of their last seven games (34 power plays against total). Now, they have managed 16 goals in those five games so they are still providing some DFS value, but it’s a wonder how many players will carry a heavy minus rating in any given game seeing how poorly their team defense has done lately.
Dallas has also been on a slide lately, losing four straight games and allowing 19 goals against in those games (4.75 goals against/game). It doesn’t seem to matter if it’s Tim Thomas or Kari Lethonen in net, the team is just not getting the saves they need to win right now. The Stars have also allowed three power play goals against in their last four games, giving their penalty killers an efficiency of just 75-percent.
It doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to see that this game could be primed for a whole lot of offense. When these two teams met back in November in Ottawa, it was a 4-3 shootout win for the Dallas Stars. Also, for now, it seems as though Alex Chiasson is the lucky Star who will be playing on the right wing of the Tyler Seguin line.
