Minnesota Wild at New York Islanders
Minnesota lost in Boston last night 4-1 and that makes five losses in six games for this team. Considering how much goaltender Darcy Kuemper has played lately, and the fact that it’s back to back nights, I would expect Ilya Bryzgalov to get the start in net tonight. The Wild are really struggling to score lately as the team hasn’t scored more than three goals in a game since January, averaging just 2.25 goals/game since. Of note is that Charlie Coyle replaced Nino Niederreiter on the second line last night, providing a pretty good value play in DFS.
New York has actually gone 2-2-1 since the trade deadline when they seemingly got rid of half of their useful players (and are still without John Tavares). They have averaged three goals per game in eight games so far in March, so they’re not having much trouble finding the back of the net. The team has been led by Kyle Okposo as the talented winger has a four-game point streak going where he’s tallied two goals and six assists. Ryan Strome also has three points in his last four games and is still pretty cheap in DFS.
These two teams met earlier in the season when both rosters looked a little different yet the Islanders managed a 5-4 win. The fact that the Wild are only small favorites to win tonight should tell us a lot about what the odds-makers think of this one. The best bet would be to maybe have a mini-stack of the top line for New York but I would probably avoid the goaltenders in this one.
