Phoenix Coyotes at Washington Capitals
The Coyotes lost three straight games coming out of the break but won games against Vancouver and Montreal to right the ship. Normally, this team has problems keeping the puck out of their net but have only allowed 12 goals against in their last five games. The penalty kill has been a bit soft of late, giving up five goals against in those five games but they do have five of their own power play goals in return. As I’ve been advocating all week, Michael Stone is the focus of their second power play unit and he still gives a good price.
Washington came out of the break like a house on fire with two wins and four power play goals in those games. They have lost their last three games though, giving up 14 goals in those three contests and getting outshot by 39 in the process. The penalty kill has also given up four goals against in those five games, so the team is a bit of a mess at the moment. Even with Jaroslav Halak in net now, the team defense of the Caps is poor.
The only time these two teams met resulted in a 4-3 shootout win for the Coyotes. These two teams are fairly evenly matched so I will avoid both goaltenders in this game. Other than that though, there are some really good value plays on both sides. I won’t stack either team but there are players to look at for cash games.
