Carolina Hurricanes at New Jersey Devils
As was kind of expected, the Hurricanes went into MSG last night and lost 4-2 to the Rangers, getting outshot by 20 in the process. This team has played their way out of a playoff spot since the break by going 1-5 in their six games and scoring just 12 goals in the process. Exacerbating the problem is their power play that has gone insanely cold by posting an 0-for-25 mark in those six games. The penalty kill has been good but in short, this team is a bit of a mess right now and cannot be trusted in DFS.
The Devils got shelled last night in Detroit 7-4 by the Red Wings. Interestingly enough, that was the second time in 12 games this team has given up at least seven goals against. A big problem is that only one of those goals was a power play goal against and that means Cory Schneider definitely did not do his part for the team. Considering it’s back to back games and Schneider got ripped for seven goals, expect Martin Brodeur in net. That means a boost for Carolina players.
The season series is tied at 1-1 right now with the Devils having the scoring edge 8-6 (which means these two teams are evenly matched). Both of these teams are playing back to back nights so in this case, I’ll give the edge to the home team. I won’t be using either goalies but there should be enough goals to support DFS plays from either side.
