Los Angeles Kings at Phoenix Coyotes
The Los Angeles Kings played last night and shut out the San Jose Sharks 1-0 in San Jose. That actually makes two wins for Los Angeles in their last eight games by a 1-0 margin. The defense and goaltending has been there for the team most of the season but for all that is holy they cannot score; Los Angeles has 23 goals in 13 games this month and one or fewer in seven of those 13 games. You just cannot rely on anyone not named Jeff Carter to put up any fantasy points among their skaters.
Phoenix is coming home after a three game road trip in Western Canada that saw them go 1-1-1 and all of them were one-goal games. In fact, the Coyotes have now played seven straight games that have been decided by one goal which sounds about right for this team – they’re good some days, bad some days, most days they’re just okay. The Phoenix power play has continued their hot streak (one power play goal in 10 of their last 11 games). I just don’t know if I would count on that continuing against Los Angeles tonight.
This is only the second game this year between these two teams and the last one was before Halloween. I know this is back to back nights for Los Angeles but Phoenix’s inconsistency tips the balance a bit towards the Kings more than it normally would.
I would probably stay away from everyone in this game tonight. If you woke up in the morning and saw “4-1 Los Angeles”, “4-1 Phoenix”, or 1-0 either way, none of them should be a surprise. That kind of unpredictability is bad for DFS.
