Nashville Predators at Winnipeg Jets
Nashville finishes off a four game Canada road trip tonight in Winnipeg (1-1-1 so far). Don’t let anyone fool you, it doesn’t matter who is in net for Nashville: each of Marek Mazanec, Carter Hutton and Devan Dubnyk have two games this month where they’ve started and allowed at least three goals against. The revolving door of goaltenders doesn’t solve the underlying problem: Nashville isn’t a very good team. The penalty kill has been horrific of late as well, killing just 12 of the last 20 penalties (60-percent efficiency).
The Jets have won six of their last seven games and are one of the hottest teams in the NHL right now. A bit of bad news, though:
No sign of Evander Kane or Blake Wheeler this morning at #NHLJets practice #bn

Uh oh.
The line of Wheeler, Kane and Mark Scheifele had been Winnipeg’s best line since Kane returned from injury and if two-thirds of that line is out tonight, it’s a big hit to the Jets’ offense. It could be a maintenance thing, but keep an eye on my Twitter feed (or better yet, Daily Face Off) for updates on who starts and who doesn’t tonight.
It comes down to this: if Kane and Wheeler are just resting and will be in the lineup tonight, I’ll be using one or two guys off that line (and a defenseman or two) from Winnipeg in a lot of my lineups. If not, I will probably just stay away from this game completely. This might be a night where you have to stay by your computer until puck drop.
