Washington Capitals at Pittsburgh Penguins
Washington has lost back-to-back games in a shootout, coming off a 2-1 SO loss at home to San Jose last night. It was a game they probably deserved a better fate in, but when you leave it to the skills competition then anything can happen. Tonight they’re on the road and the Caps have only eight wins in their 20 road games so far this year, so I wouldn’t make any goaltender for Washington a part of your daily fantasy plans tonight.
The Penguins are coming home after a Western Canada road trip that saw them go 2-0-1 in their three games. Their power play only went 1-for-9 over those three games and they only (I say that somewhat sarcastically) scored nine goals in those contests. This is a totally different team at home, though, as Pittsburgh hasn’t lost at home, in regulation or otherwise, since November 13 and that is their only loss of any kind at home since October 25.
Judging from their previous meeting and the situation of tonight’s game (Washington on a back-to-back, Pittsburgh has been off since Saturday night), I expect this to be a whitewash for Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, on such a short slate of games, most other DFS players will be thinking the same. Winners and losers will be decided by how the points are divided amongst the top six forwards in Pittsburgh tonight. Good luck figuring out who will outscore who.
