Edmonton Oilers at Phoenix Coyotes
Of course the big headline for this game is that Nail Yakupov will be a healthy scratch for the Oilers, but that’s another discussion for another day. The team, meanwhile, lost in a shootout a couple of nights ago, ending their mini two-game win streak. Of course, they had lost six straight in regulation before that.
Phoenix has been only so-so themselves for a couple weeks now, going just 1-2-4 in their last seven games. That includes losses to Carolina and Buffalo, too.
These teams have met twice already this year with Phoenix taking both and scoring 11 goals along the way. They did allow six goals against in those two games, though, so it’s not like Edmonton hasn’t been able to find the back of the net against this team.
There’s no way to look at this game except as a high-scoring affair. I’ll have lots of skaters from both teams in my lineups, but neither of the goalies.
Note: Keith Yandle and Oliver Ekman-Larsson have combined for three points and zero goals in Phoenix’s last seven games. I would avoid the high-priced defensemen for now.
