Columbus Blue Jackets at Colorado Avalanche
In a rare feat by an Eastern Conference team, the Blue Jackets have a .500 record (4-4) against the West. They also just had a three-game winning streak snapped by the Penguins, not really something to hang your head over.
Colorado has seen a bit of their puck luck run out and they’ve now lost four straight (though three were in extra time, so they salvaged some points). In those four games, they’ve allowed 15 goals against.
The team defense for Colorado is starting to falter a little bit, as they’ve allowed an average of 39.5 shots against in their last four games. They were going to come down eventually, but it shouldn’t be to this level.
The Avalanche also lost P.A. Parenteau to a knee injury in their last game. This is a pretty significant loss for them, as he was tied for fourth on the team in scoring with Paul Stastny, was playing in a second line role and was fifth among Avalanche forwards in time on ice per game.
You never know how a team will adjust following an injury to an important player, and it’s even tougher to judge against a non-Conference team. I would expect a handful of goals, but won’t be taking either goalie.
