Montréal Canadiens at Carolina Hurricanes
Speaking of teams that are reeling, Montréal heads to Carolina for their first meeting this year.
The Habs are just 4-4 in their last eight games, and even that’s a bit misleading: Montréal has been outplayed in most of their games lately, and three of those four wins have come in overtime or a shootout. What’s even more worrisome is that their power play, which was vaunted to start the year, is now 0-for-12 in their last four games and have only converted four times in 13 games this month overall.
Carolina, meanwhile, has lost eight of their last nine games, though four of those were in overtime so they are still 1-4-4 in those games. In those nine games, they have allowed 30 goals against and have allowed 20 in their last five games. They are doing fairly well on their special teams, and they have allowed fewer than 30 shots in four of their last five, but the goaltending just hasn’t been there.
I don’t expect a high-scoring game, but there should be enough goals to pick a few players from. I wouldn’t go with either goalie, however.
