Washington Capitals at Philadelphia Flyers
These two teams met on Sunday afternoon which resulted in the Flyers blowing a 4-1, third period lead to lose the game in a shootout. Steve Mason’s regression continues as he’s now allowed four goals against in three of his last five games, something he didn’t do a single time in his first 20 games on the season.
It’s not confirmed, but I was assume that Braden Holtby gets the nod back in net tonight for the Capitals after they rode the hot hand of Phillipp Grubauer for the last week or so.
Washington has been on a good little tear of late, going 6-1-1 in their last eight games and scoring 20 goals in their last five games. A lot of that has to do with the power play, which is running at a 29.2-percent efficiency over their last seven games.
The Flyers are sliding a bit, going 1-2-2 in their last five games and 4-5-2 in their last 11 games. Not only has their goaltending started to slide, but their offense has been pretty inconsistent. To be fair, though, they have won six straight games at home and most of their woes came on the road.
This game shouldn’t lack goals but should lack goaltending.
