Phoenix Coyotes at Montréal Canadiens
Phoenix continues their East Coast trip, having split their first two games so far. Like most Western teams, the Coyotes are dominating the East, having gone 9-2-1 against their sister Conference so far this year. The Habs, meanwhile, are 5-6-1 against the West this year, which (without looking) is probably one of the top three marks in the East vs. West debate.
It’s still a tiny sample, but December has been goaltender Mike Smith’s best so far, accumulating a .917 save percentage so far. On top of that, Montréal’s Carey Price has allowed more than two goals just once in his last 13 games.
It would appear this game won’t bring a lot of goals, but predicting who wins isn’t easy.
The Habs have re-shuffled their lines and it’s bad news for Lars Eller and Daniel Brière, as they’re now planted on the third line. Brière had been a nice cheap option for a while now, but it just might not be there anymore for him.
If you’re feeling adventurous, either goalie probably isn’t a bad play (I would lean Smith). I wouldn’t count on many players to rack the points, though.
