Winnipeg Jets at Buffalo Sabres
Winnipeg saw the return of Evander Kane produce two points for him and two points for the team.
The Jets won 3-2 last night in Columbus, powered by Kane’s two point night and third period goal which proved to be the game-winner. Rather than put Kane back with his old centerman of Olli Jokinen, he has been placed on a line with Mark Scheifele and Michael Frolik, and that line played with a lot of energy last night.
That said, the Jets have played three back-to-back situations already, and they lost the second game of those B2Bs all three times by a combined score of 11-6.
Buffalo is starting to turn up the offensive pressure now that they’re getting a bit more familiar with bench boss Ted Nolan; in five straight games, the Sabres have registered at least 25 shots, a stretch that they haven’t seen all season long. They’re not scoring much more than usual – six goals in five games – but those will come eventually.
This game screams 2-1 either way, so I’d rather just avoid it altogether.
