Colorado Avalanche at Dallas Stars
In the second game of a back-to-back home-and-home set, two of the game’s more exciting teams face off in the Big D. Last night, Colorado skated away with a 6-2 home win, and it wasn’t really close all game long.
The funny thing about last night’s game is that I was expecting both teams to get their special teams going. The penalty killers sure did, as the teams combined to go 0-for-10 with the man advantage, which is fairly surprising considering the offensive weapons on both sides.
There was a ton of offense last night and 81 shots on goal. I expect both teams to be a bit tired today and perhaps a bit sloppier in their defensive zone coverage. I don’t expect eight goals, but a 4-2 game isn’t out of the question. Which team ends up with more goals, though, is anyone’s guess.
One note out of last night’s game: Rookie Stars defenseman Kevin Connauton had over 22 minutes of ice time and was on the ice with one of Dallas’ top two lines for most of the game. He’s still not available on Draft Day, but a piece of advice for other sites.
